Following the creative spirit of her family, Susan began painting in 2017 and hasn't looked back. Her gallery of work now tops over 100 paintings that speak to her training in archetypal psychology, mythology, and family heritage.
Where imagination meets the crafting of language, Susan's writings span the genres of political commentary, romantic fiction, memoir, and creative non-fiction.

Raised in the New Mexico mountains, Susan traveled for one year throughout the US, Canada, and Europe with the singing group, Up With People in the early 80′s. Later, over the course of six years, she coordinated lobster bakes and boat charters in Portland, Maine before working for the Portland Harbor Commission. In 2001, while living in Lugano, Switzerland, she served as Assistant Dean of a small American college before returning to the States to pursue a doctorate in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, CA.
She holds a BA in Political Science, an MA in International Relations, and an MA and PhD in Mythological Studies. Her dissertation, Pilgrims of the Palette: Exploring the Artistic Legacy of Olin Herman Travis, explores the art and life journey of her grandfather, Olin Herman Travis.
She has worked on several non-profits, including NM Organized Against Trafficking Humans (NM-OATH) and Friends of Camp Mary White (FCMW) to restore and preserve Camp Mary White, located in the Sacramento mountains of New Mexico.
She currently lives in Ruidoso, NM where she teaches online college classes in political science, psychology, sociology, and world religions. She also paints, writes, narrates audio books, and enjoys the clean mountain air of the Southwest from her perch in the family home on Snowcap Drive.
