A Bit About Susan Travis

Raised in the New Mexico mountains, Susan traveled for one year throughout the US, Canada, and Europe with the singing group, Up With People in the early 80′s.  Later, over the course of six years, she coordinated lobster bakes and boat charters in Portland, Maine before working for the Portland Harbor Commission.  In 2001, while living in  Lugano, Switzerland, she served as Assistant Dean of a small American  college before returning to the States to pursue a doctorate in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, CA.

She holds a BA in Political Science, an MA in International  Relations, and an MA and PhD in Mythological Studies.  Her  dissertation, Pilgrims of the Palette: Exploring the Artistic Legacy of Olin Herman Travis, explores the art and life journey of her grandfather, Olin Herman Travis.

She has worked on several non-profits, including NM Organized Against Trafficking Humans (NM-OATH) and Friends of Camp Mary White (FCMW) to restore and preserve Camp Mary White, located in the Sacramento mountains of New Mexico.

She currently lives in Ruidoso, NM where she teaches online college classes in political science, psychology, sociology, and world religions.  She also paints, writes, narrates audio books, and enjoys the clean mountain air of the Southwest from her perch in the family home on Snowcap Drive.
